Not bad, but not really worth money. I expected more and the trailers mislead me. Overall it's alright and has some really entertaining parts. Worth watching if nothing better's on.

This was a good one to see for those esp who do not believe in such things. But again they need to experience it themselves to understand it all.

GAH! Such a thrilling portrayal of Stephen King's short story. John Cusack did a fantastic job and was very good at going insane. I enjoyed the movie, and I could watch it over and over and over.

All my friends were saying this movie was so scary. I watched it and laughed. It had it's moments. I was very disappointed. If you think barney is scary then don't watch it.

Much better than I thought it was going to be. It succeeded at being a horror movie with a guy who doesn't believe in ghosts being haunted. It is hard to find success with a foundation like that. The corny ending made me knock this one down a point.

Hmmm, the only scary movies that actually scare me are modern haunting movies. So I was wondering if this movie would be good. Well, it was decent. It wasnt as good as I thought it would be, I was actuly quite bored with most of it, but I had fun watching because my friend screamed at every part.

Typical adaptation of a Stephen King novel (excluding The Shining, obviously) Mild scares, might be okay for a Friday night with a group of friends or something. Not my cup of tea.

Good adaptation of Stephen King, although some of its special effects are not achieved either.

Not bad. Decent for Stephen King fans. John Cusack is usually a good bet.

Finally got around to seeing this one and thought it was pretty good. Worth renting. Not super scary but had it's moments. Cusack puts in a great performance. I liked the double twist ending.

I'm a big fan of John Cusack But, I was very disappointed in this movie as the trailers seems to be very interesting. It was scary but very difficult to understand.

The movie stayed pretty true to the story and I like that in a adaptation-of course the characters in the movie make it-Samuel Jackson and John Cusack made the movie fun and fast paced.

I liked this movie very much and am confused by the many negative reviews I have seen on it. It starts out a little slow but then keeps you on the edge wondering what is going to happen next. An interesting twist near the end makes the movie that much more enjoyable!

I was a little disappointed in this movie, maybe I expect more. I love John Cusack and most of his movies are excellent. Not a great movie, not bad either just sort of... meh...

It was an entertaining bit of fluff. Nothing incredibly special. The last scene of the movie was a bit predictable.

OK, this movie had lots of potential. There were some great visual effects, plus great sound effects, but this alone does not make a good movie. The acting, which was mainly done by John Cusack was pretty good, but then I like John Cusack. Anyway, for me the story was a little on the weak side if the purpose was to scare or frighten. The movie did manage to keep things interesting with the little twists, and when the smoke cleared so to speak, I found it to be an enjoyable film for me (myself) Cheers!

As I look back on it, the movie followed the rollercoaster formula very well. Not that it's always a bad thing because the execution was just fantastic. Making this movie a good watch and a future buy.

This movie started off really scary and suspenseful but after the first 45 minutes it really went down hill and the ending really sucked which ruined the movie for me.

Absolutely terrific, a great throwback to chills, thrills, and suspense. 1408 is a classic haunted hotel story with modern sensibilities--exactly what horror filmmakers should be learning from instead of ways to make torture and maiming more graphic and revolting. I'll be buying this one on DVD and showing it at late night parties.

The ending with it all being real and the tape recorder was pretty lame and I thought that the entire thing with the manager being the creeper was stupid!

Was a very confusing movie that wasn't scary at all and it seemed to drag on forever and repeat itself. Acting wasn't the greatest either.

--Starts good, but becomes way too unrealistic to properly immerse yourself in the movie. Uses alot of hollywood loud noise shocking technique to scare you, which gets old real fast!
