First of all, I think the message of this movie is terrific: school is more important than sports. Coach Carter was an admirable man who really cared about his kids, not like many teachers/principals/coaches who are only there to do their jobs and no more. It sends a great message out to all teenagers, not just inner-city basketball players. The problem with this movie is it is TOO long! At 136 minutes, I was starting to look for the hobbits. Not that I have anything against long movies, but the story was resolved a good half hour before the movie ended, and everything else just seemed irrelevant. I personally couldn't have cared less if they were playing freakin' BADMINTON at the end. Some serious editing was required. Otherwise, I would've given Coach Carter an 8/10.
