Basically, everything is good about this movie (ie. The characters, the action scenes, the special effects) EXCEPT the story. Man, it's like someone lifted the plot out of a video game or something. It didn't make too much sense, and it wasn't interesting and that's what Hurt the movie in the end. Rob Perlman nailed it as Hellboy though. He is just hilarious, like a mix between Schwarzenneger and Clint Eastwood. The producers made a good decision to actually have an actor portray the hero and not CGI (eg. The Hulk) Hellboy himself could be one of the most three-dimensional comic book-movie heroes we've seen lately. He's big and mean and mighty, but he's also got a cute side, some wacky quirks and a lot of emotional range. He is the reason to see the movie. Some of the secondary characters have more than one dimension as well, making the relationships the most interesting part of the movie. But, in the end, it's just another blast 'em up, beat 'em up CGI-filled action flick, with things flying all over the screen so fast, you can't keep up with them. Probably not your cup of tea if you're not into the whole comic book thing.
