School Of Rock is exactly what the title says it is. For 100 or so minutes, you, the viewer, are a student in a classroom, learning all about classic rock music, from Led Zeppelin to Yes. Your teacher, the endlessly energetic and more-than-slightly insane Jack Black. The man is like Chris Farley reborn, the Chris Farley before the suits at SNL thought all he was good for was yelling and falling through tables. In School of Rock, you are a student in Jack Black's warped, highly-implausible class, where the rock is the only subject, and no one seems to check on what's going on. Sure, the story is a bare bones stuff, but it's a sweet, fun, hilarious movie with one loony star and a bunch of really talented kids (I'm guessing they play their own instruments because it sure looks like they are) Sort of like a cross between Rock Star with Marky Mark Wahlberg, Daddy Daycare and High Fidelity, this movie is guaranteed entertainment. Liking rock music doesn't hurt either; I'm not sure the hip hop or opera crowds would get as much out of this.
