I walked out of Bad Santa in need of a shower, and straight into Love Actually. It was like I had spent the last hour and a half in a hole in someone's septic tank, only to be released to a lovely, sunny day. Love Actually is about as feel-good as a movie can get without someone actually touching you. Set in London, and with about eight intertwining stories, this is a movie that you just have to bring a date to. Seeing it with your buddies ain't gonna cut it. It's a different kind of romantic comedy. Love, in this case, does not exclusively refer to romantic love, but many forms of love: friendly love, family love, puppy love, forbidden love, infatuation, etc. It was interesting to see it in all its forms, in one 2-hour movie. One problem: it goes on about 15 minutes too long, delving into the typical stupidities of your average Hollywood cookie cutter romance flick. It is a terrifically entertaining motion picture nevertheless, and you would have to have a heart as black as coal not to be touched by at least one of the stories (in that case, may I suggest Bad Santa)
