Ghost Ship, while not a great movie by any means, earned its 8/10 rating with just a few memorably gruesome scenes that will stand out in the annals of horror's greatest moments. As a whole, Ghost Ship is slow and full of empty chills. Not only that, but it is predictable and derivative (a much better and more entertaining film with the same premise is 1998's "Deep Rising) Despite this, I cannot shake the first three minutes from my mind. The later flashback montage was equally brilliant and horrific. Come to think of it, all the best scenes were flashbacks. So, in conclusion, a mediocre film that is really worth a 6 or even a 5 had it not been for a handful of standout scenes that will linger in your mind long after you have forgotten which movie they came from.
