I enjoy going to see movies that the critics and news media trash to no end. After all, who the heck are they to decide the fate of a movie? As a result of Swept Away being labelled the "worst movie of the year" (when that honour clearly belongs to "The Tuxedo") , there were but six people in the theatre on the Saturday night I chose to see it. This is completely undeserved. Swept Away is funny, sexy and extreme. Madonna, at the age of 44, has the body of a fitness model and Adriano Giannini refreshingly does not feel the need to shave his chest (from the current trend in entertainment, one would think all men are as smooth as a baby's bottom) Granted, it's not the greatest desert island romance picture ever made (Six Days, Seven Nights would fit that bill) , but it is good for a few chuckles. Critics no doubt chose to slam the flick because of the sometimes cruel (yet wholly deserving) punishments committed on the female lead by the male, and in an attempt to suck up to women's groups, condemned this movie. So, here are a list of movies in theatres now that are WORSE than Swept Away: The Tuxedo, Trapped, The Time Machine, Knockaround Guys, The Royal Tennenbaums, Insomnia, Enough, Jason X, Murder By Numbers, Ice Age, The New Guy, Super Troopers, Big Trouble, City By The Sea, Collateral Damage, Monsoon Wedding, and Sweet Home Alabama. There may be more, but I can't see every movie that comes out..
