XXX rocks!!! No need to analyze the movie, no need to dwell on the subtleties (what subtleties?) , no need to pick apart the sometimes lousy accents and Vin Diesel's occasional poorly delivered lines. This movie just rocks solid. It's an action movie and a welcome one at that. With effects that harken back to the old days of big explosions and lots of gunfire, and plenty of outrageous stunts that could only be described as impossible feats of madness (the avalanche scene alone is worth the price of admission) , it's nice to see a flick where every second shot isn't an obvious display of computer graphics. A computer animated Spider-Man just didn't do it for me, XXX uses actual stunt men. It's James Bond for the 21st century, you have your m'and your Q, your vast array of weapons and gadgets, your big bad super-villain with lots of henchmen and an ultra diabolical plan. It just rules. Vin Diesel is the new breed of action star. No one said they had to act to be great (and actually, Vin ain't that bad an actor, as Saving Private Ryan and Boiler Room go to show) Heck, could Arnie act? They just have to kick some butt and XXX does indeed kick butt. I eagerly await the sequels. Hopefully, the producers will want to concentrate more on this franchise than the overrated bore that was Fast and the Furious.
