This has a lot in common with "In The Bedroom". Both deal with grief and loss, and both are very slow. While critics seemed to like Bedroom better, I had to say I liked this more. Halle Berry deserves her Oscar nomination (not that the Oscars mean anything: Shakespeare In Love? English Patient?!?!?!?) and Billy Bob was great too. The direction is a little odd with quick jumping from moment to moment that can be a little disorienting at first. It was a terrific film that came close to bringing me to tears, as only four other movies have ever done before, those being Sling Blade, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams and Saving Private Ryan. Bonus: Halle Berry gets nekkid for some wicked porno-style sex.
