This is a very original, very thought-provoking movie. I know, weird to hear someone say that about a Van Damme flick, but it's true. Some truly hilarious moments highlight this bleached, dirty-looking film, but what it leaves you with at the end is probably the best understanding of what it's like to be a celebrity. Even someone as pompous-seeming as Jean Claude Van Damme is a human being, with real dreams and wants and emotions, and this movie, more than any other I've ever seen, demonstrates this to perfection. Why it didn't get a higher rating? Some parts were hard to follow because the English subtitles (yes, the movie is mostly in French, in case no one told you) were often camouflaged by the glaring, bleached colour of the visuals; at times, it made reading the subtitles akin to trying to read a no-parking sign with the sun right behind it. But, overall an entertaining and original flick.
