I WAS DISAPPOINTED! I never read any of the books and knew very little about Harry Potter to begin with, but I figure anything that gets kids in this day and age to line up at midnight to buy a BOOK has got to be a good thing. And I admire the movie for its imagination. At least kids that are brought up on this will grow up to be tomorrow's fantasy writers and movie-makers. But, frankly, I found it a little boring. (Note: I gave Monsters Inc. 10/10 so it ain't the age thing.) It was too long: 2 1/2 hours. I was dozing off; and if it can't keep MY attention, how is it going to hold the attention of an 8 year old? But I liked the story and the concepts. I'm reading the book now because it struck me as something that is better left to the imagination than on the big screen. I don't know, there's something about flying broomsticks that just seems like it would be better on a written page than on a movie screen. Overall, a pretty good flick, but I just found it WAY too long for what it offered.
