Dark, DARK stuff. DARK! I read the book two years ago and I expected to be disappointed with the movie. I wasn't. Even though I knew exactly what to expect, this was a gripping experience. So rarely does a book-to-movie adaptation get handled so masterfully. And normally I don't like DiCaprio; I find him obnoxious and phony. This time, I think he gave an Oscar-worthy performance. I will not judge him so harshly in the future. A terrific supporting cast, most notably Ben Kingsley, round out this masterpiece. Go see it NOW, but be warned, this is dark, moody stuff. I love insane asylum movies!
