Just before the movie started, I learned from my friend that Peter Berg was the director. I mentally prepared myself for an evening of nausea and frequent eye-closing since Peter Berg is probably the worst culprit for spaz-cam (the new trend of having a constantly moving, jerking camera that never allows the viewer to get a good look at the scene) I was correct. Any longer than its 92 minutes and I would have thrown up all over the place. It turned what was otherwise a very good movie into a punishment. That being said, it was funny, Will Smith plays a jerk to perfection, and it was pretty original, with a surprise I truly didn't see coming. I'd wait for DVD so you don't have to feel the dizziness on the big screen.

Just FYI - what you so eloquently refer to as "spaz cam" is, in fact, a technique which originated in Denmark as part of the "Dogme 95" way of shooting movies. I am sure I can assezt with some certainty that your friend, Peter Berg, is not the ruling king of "spaz cam".

I thought "Spaz Cam" originated with "The Blair Witch Project". Will Smith is great in this movie.

I can't wait to see the movie. As for "Spaz Cam" and Blair Witch... : Blair Witch Project - 1999 The Celebration - 1998 (Dogme #1) That fact aside, the time of conception of the Dogme method is in its name: Dogme *95* - Lars Von Trier (Kingdom Hospital) and Thomas Vinterberg developed it in 1995.

Oh, I didn't know that. Well, at least I know who to blame now for ruining action movies, the damn Danish! Peter Berg then is the ruling king of copying a lousy style of shooting movies that makes my stomach churn and my vision swim. Better?

I'm sorry, my intention is not to be provocative. But could you explain to me how you could rate 'Hancock' a 5 and 'Snakes on a Plane' was given a 10. This is somewhat absurd for in my opinion, Snakes on a Plane's intention was NOT to be a comedy and it sucked, when Hancock is obviously a comedy. Both movies aren't great, but any person with basic taste would say Snakes on a Plane was the worst.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound angry or defensive. I just get irritated by the bouncy cameras. Thanks for educating me about Dogme 95. I looked it up afterwards and read all about it. I think my enjoyment of a movie that uses this method of spazhood depends on whether or not I see it in the theater. I really like Rob Zombie's movies, but I only saw them on DVD. Had I seen them in the theaters, I probably would have upchucked. As for Snakes on a Plane, I gave it a 10 because I had a blast watching it. And I do think it was meant to be funny. The title itself indicates that. It harkened back to the type of 1980s horror movies I grew up on, where a group of people are stuck in a rotten situation and have little hope of survival. For me, it's a classic. Hancock gets a 5 instead of an 8 because of spazcam. The movie itself actually wasn't that bad.

I was wondering what the deal was. I nearly threw up on my friend's shoe. I had to leave only thirty minutes in. The only other time I've been nauseas in a movie is the Blair Witch Project. Small screen is definitely the way to go on this one.
