The hype is unwarranted; this movie is as average as can be. Decent acting, script and an unoriginal idea combine with genuine, slowly-built tension to make the first 2/3 of the movie an 8 on 10, but then I was left feeling robbed by a simply unacceptable final half hour. According to those who liked it, only people who didn't "get it" didn't like it. I got it, and it was nothing more than mediocre. Imagine Fargo withouth the humour, the interesting characters and the snow and you have No Country For Old Men. A Simple Plan, by Sam Raimi, was ten times the movie this was, and strangely enough, was about the same thing.
