As an analyst I always have my radar on for how archetypes are currently emerging from our collective unconscious (these are powerful primordial patterns at the meeting place of spirit and matter which manifest as themes giving structure and purpose to life) Movies are a wonderful gateway to insight into their dynamics - especially really creative films that appeal to all ages. This one is a huge winner. It depicts archetypes including: the hero's journey and return; meeting the underworld guide to surviving the pathless path to wisdom; meeting the devouring Shadows of mother and father; the birth of new identity in the unconscious; the psychosis of the Bardo realms (laughing gas); the threat of the Abyss Experience (the Lava Falls); the redemptive re-union of the family, courtship frenzy of the foxes - seeking/competing for the Self with the beloved (the acorn - brilliant!) -- it's all here and its funny-scary-wise, too. If you see this film consider inviting/programming your own unconscious to have a dream or two interpreting its meaning for you. I bet your unconscious will appreciate it enormously.
