I read the book back in the 70's, saw the original and liked it, and I also enjoyed this one. I am enjoying the trend towards true horror films and away from the slasher/comedy genre that ruined going to a horror movie for me the last 20 years. Spare me the blood and guts, give me suspense and surprise and atmosphere. I think the Ring brought us back from the edge of the abyss.
