Superman Returns [2006] Movie Reviews on CinemaClock

I must say that was one great, unforgettable movie. The man of steel has come back to us in a whole different light in a way you would not expect, and has resurfaced from the depths to a new generation of fans. There is a good, strong story here, interlaced with drama, humour, romance, and adventure. Brandon Routh makes an incredibly almost perfect Superman, but he will never really surmount to what Christopher Reeve was on the big screen... a legendary icon. Nobody will ever take the place of this well remembered, loved actor. That said, I thought the imagery and special effects were spectacular for this movie. As far as the acting went, it was really good... all the cast did a wonderful job. I actually didn't mind the new Lois Lane played by Cate Bosworth. She was different, yes, from Margot Kidder's character, alot younger, more bubbly, and less serious, but I found her to be very likable just the same. Then of course there's Lex Luthor, played by Kevin Spacey. Yes, he does portray a much darker Lex than I would have imagined, but I was okay with that. I still think though that Gene Hackman's performance of Lex in the original movies were better. Nevertheless, this is one of the biggest summer blockbusters out now, and for all you die hard Superman fans this is the movie for you. It might not be what you quite expect, but it will be entertaining regardless. Please go check it out..
