A comedy drama with Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore. Naturally, the cast is perfect. Bana plays a professional poker player who is the best at reading people but has some issue with his personal life, while Drew Barrymore comes in as someone who has nothing to do with poker but knows how to read Bana. It was easy to relate to the character. Robert Duvall is his father and an icon in the poker world. I really enjoyed that movie and I think that you would too.

A real yawner, but if you rent it, you can fall asleep on the couch and it goes by pretty quick. Harder to do in the movie theatre. If you don't want a bad beat, don't rent this.

I was disappointed with this --there was a lot of hype ;then a late release; acting was OK ; POKER WAS GOOD.

Excellent movie. Sure not for those who go to movie to eat popcorn and watch how people are killing each other. Eric Bana is wonderful in this role. And this is the real poker game and life of people with brain.

There are better poker movies out there. Eric Bana doesn't really get to me as the slick pocker player the way Matt Damon and Ed Norton did in rounders. All together there are better poker movies (Rounders, High Roller: the Stu Ungar Story and teh Cincinnati kid come to mind) The attempt was good and there are plenty of poker stars in the movie to give it that real-life allure (Phil Helmuth, Daniel Negreanu , etc.) But it falls short of having the real life poker intensity.

DVD: "Lucky You"
I found it unexpectingly good. The acting really put me in the movie.

I found this movie very dry. If you can't stand watching poker on TV then this is not the movie for you. Drew Barrymore has such a small part and it isn't her usual cutsey role.

Slow starting and not much of a story until the end.

God I love to read reviews now days. With younger people, if there's no killing, sex or total violence the movie is sure to be dumped on. I miss the good old movies with more character and comedy. I'm just not sure where this new generation is heading but it doesn't look good from where I'm standing. My 2 cents...

There's hardly any romance or comedy in this movie. It's all about gambling. If you like watching poker on TV, then this movie is for you because that's all that it's about.

Slow paced, yet excellent poker movie. If you do not know or enjoy poker, you will probably hate this movie. Poker is all about patience, so pace is not a problem for a poker fan. Script is actually well written IF AND ONLY IF you know poker. For example, the way a person bets (does he throw chips or places them slowly) will dictate how Chuck behaves. If you do not know what to look for (which poker tell to look for), poker scenes will look very much alike. They are actually quite different for a poker fan. Storyline is really more between father and son than it is about a love story. Do not bring a date to this movie as she will probably hate you. Then again, if you ever watched a full tourney on DVD and enjoyed it, you should enjoy this one. Just thought they picked odd actor to portrey Chris Moneymaker.

A movie that should have gone straight to video discount bin. Not worth the price admission.

We waited, and waited and waited for something more to happen and it just never did! What a long boring movie. How many poker games can one person watch. It was a dead-end movie that just never went any where. We kept hoping something exciting would happen. Total waste of time. I can't remember ever checking my watch that many times.

It was not that great of a movie but I guest if your a poker player you may like it. In the movie you see some real poker player in it.

This movie was the worst movie ever, the whole movie consists of the guy in a casino, its more a poker lesson movie than anything, don't go see it, it's a waste of your money!!!

I saw this movie with girlfriends and it was the worst movie I have seen in a very long time. It appears as if it is going to have a good plot but you wait and it never happens. This movie is about the poker game, and nothing else develops.

You youngens don't know what good movie is like anymore. There's more to a love story than what you watch now a days. Personally, I thought it was wonderful.

Totally kept waiting for something to happen... And it never did. Only go if you want to sleep!! Very little plot, not enough to recommend.

I am really surprised to see that some people love this movie - to me it was terrible. From the trailer I thought it was going to be a love story about two people trying to make a relationship work with a side of poker but it was totally the other way around. I don't know anything about poker and having to sit through scene after scene of what card does he have was painful. I went to see it with a bunch of girlfriends and we all disliked it. Eric & Drew have zero chemistry. Even though Robert Duval is a good actor, I still didn't buy his relationship with his son. I love Drew so it got a 2.

Loved it! I saw it three times so far! I guess I take the main character personally as being close to mine. Hard with my friends and reckless with the game!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Robert Duvall as the estranged father of the main protagonist carries this otherwise rather weak plot-- but, oh, the ending really needed work. But the poker is credible. And Ms Barrymore... Still great but her part is really stretched all out of shape --- on the one hand she is scripted as insightful and feisty and on the other hand she's in bed with her sister's ex on a first date right after he ripped her off.

Where do I start with this one! I was drawn to this because of the poker. If you don't understand texas hold'em, you won't want to see this. IF you do, you won't want to see this because it's as boring as possible. [...] It's not a romance movie, it's not action packed, it's not a character study on someone into poker. The main character doesn't do much of anything except constant stare downs to get your "tells". It's not much of anything. How was it possible to make a movie about poker in Las Vegas so boring? I give it 2 for not resorting to some violent shootout. Rounders is still the best film about poker.

Ed Duval and Eric Bana's story was what drove this story. They threw in a relationship but it's not what this movie is about. I felt I learned so much about the game of poker by just following how this man approached it. If you don't like this movie than you aren't die hard fan for the game of poker, it is that simple. If you like story as oppose to special effects than please see this movie.

It is more like an 8, but when I see these [...] people give it a 1 because they want more action I need to off set their vote. I might be a bit biased because I am such a huge poker fan but the script is well written, it takes place at a time just before the big boom that poker has taken and you get an inside track of what it meant to be a poker professional before we could see everyones whole cards. The relationship/story between the main character and his dad is the best part. Too bad this movie has a horrible trailer that does not give it justice.

I've been looking forward to this movie ever since I heard it was being made. Rounders is 1 of my all time favs. If you're looking for a romantic drama you might enjoy it. If you're looking for a kik-ass poker yarn the Stu Unger story is money better spent. Boring chik-flick.

Make sure the other people in the audience don't hear you snoring through the movie's 5 million poker playing scenes. By the fifth All In, I wanted All Out.

Its ok but not the greatest. It's a perfect movie to see if your sort of bored and have nothing else to do on a saturday afternoon and just wanna see a movie for the sake of it lol. If you like Las Vegas you should see it!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the movie very much... If you are interested in Poker and value a movie that is not overwhelmed with chessy action, has a life moral, and is centered around family issues than this is the movie for you... I was skeptical at first the but even watching the poker scenes got me tense and into the movie even more... It was a good movie and definitely worth seeing... But I could have rented it and enjoyed it just as much... Cheers.

I really liked this movie and I wasn't expecing anything. Anybody who likes cards and poker, it's very interesting to watch how real players think and are obsessed by the game. Most of the action is in a casino and you just see compulsive players bet. It's crazy how they can make $20,000 in a single day and loose it all the next day! Eric Bana is very good, but Drew Barrymore doesn't play a big role.
