Really good story, the acting is superb, definitely worth checking out even if you're not a fan of the style of music.

Har to understand the way they talk sometimes but aside from that, pretty good story line, good acting.

I am a 47 year old white woman who attempts to expose myself to other cultures & I find it an enriching experience as well as broadening. I certainly use the movies as a means to do that. I watched LACKAWANNA BLUES (twice)on Monday night & then HUSSLE & FLOW (twice)on Tuesday evening. Watching both movies reaffirmed what I already knew and that is there is NO substitute for a strong loving parential presence in a child's life. The lack of or absense of frequent parental hugs in our society is what is at the root of many of this country's social ills. In a simplier time in this country children were the product of a loving act. Now they are a bothersome by-product of a very selfish act.

I thought the acting was outstanding, I had some difficulty understanding the heavy accent. However, it was real and not hollywoodish at all.

This movie was one of the best made in my opinion, 100 thumbs up to John Singleton and Craig brewer for this one, they really got down. All of the major actors really did their thing as far as acting in this movie. Especially Taraji Henson she did her thang, she deserves a grammy for this one. This movie should actually get #1 movie.

I liked it. It gave me a new found respect to rappers of who the music I could not identify with or understand. After seeing this movie you get a sense of where they are comming from, the sort of desperation that comes with growing up in a empoverished neighboorhood like they do. All in all I would recommend it on DVD without a doubt but for the movies I'd hold off a bit. Its definitely a good performance by terence although the role may be overlooked by the oscar committee because of the nature of the movie, it isn't the sort of plot that usually gets the attention at academy awards. The music stayed with me for a week in my head! So I guess all in all it definitely affected me in a good way " its tough being a pimp in...".

LOVED IT. The music, the talent, the rawness and realness. Terrence Howard has brilliance and I can't wait to see what else he can do. All around a very good film.

But for a cliched ending, this was a great film. Rich characterization, surprisingly good performances by Terrance Howard & Anthony Anderson. It shows how the underdog can rise above their circumstances.

It was alright but quite violent, but I guess that is what is common in the society today (violence), other than that the movie would have been perfect. But dont get me wrong the movie was great!

Perhaps todays generation could take advantage of this great movie and learn how to take the cards you are dealt with and make them into a winning hand. These characters wanted more than the miserable life they were immersed in and with hard work and passion and meeting the right people it becomes possible and truly becomes a winning movie that is truly meant to inspire this generation with so much attitude and appetite for violence. The star of the movie, Terrence Howard is bound for glory without a doubt and could possibly be nominated. If you are under 25 you should be forced into the theatre and made to watch over and over again until you finally got it. Then maybe our streets would be safer.
