For anyone initially put off by complaints of 'complexity' and 'confusion', check the writing level of those dissatisfied and take their comments at face value. Vanilla Sky is nothing extraordinarily new, but it is a refreshing change from the stock plot development many with which many viewers are inundated. Tom Cruise is Cruise trying to do art - see Eyes Wide Shut - but tolerable nonetheless. Diaz, as much as I hate her, plays her role perfectly. Cruz is a little too much, though one could argue that inasmuch as her character is largely Cruise's character's construction, he is responsible for this hyperbole and therefore she played the role well. In any event, Vanilla Sky is different, interesting and certainly worth seeing.
