Twelve-year-old Owen (Bill Switzer) with a terminal disease has just lost his best friend Mr. Rice (David Bowie). Owen soon discovers that Mr. Rice has left him a letter written in a secret code revealing a series of clues. Each clue leads Owen a step closer to Mr. Rice's Secret. Apparently Mr. Rice has left a potion of life for Owen to discover, but also to discover what he meant when he told Owen, "it's what you do in life that counts."
