A woman and her husband lived beside a very beautiful garden, which belonged to a feared witch of great power. One day, the woman developed a strange craving for the rampion leaves in the garden, and her husband offered to sneak into the garden to gather some of the leaves for her. The witch caught him, and allowed him to gather as much rampion as he wanted, but on one condition: that he give the witch his wife's unborn daughter, Rapunzel.
