First, Winslet thoroughly deserves her Oscar! The film is very satisfying and thought provoking. It works on many levels yet all connected. While the film is framed around the holocaust, it deals with individuals and their social and moral responsibilities, relationships, isolation and the impact of education. There is plenty of ambiguity in the reasons for certain actions that ring true of the real world where often we are not fully aware of why we make certain decisions. Top class movie!
