User's review

For a film whose advertising boasts that nothing important happens in it, The Band's Visit is surprisingly engaging. In the character-driven tale, the talented cast finds the right balance between understated naturalism, nuance, humour and pathos. With the deft blending of comedy and drama, the casual pacing is never dull and the story holds your attention throughout. The use of artfully staged images adds to the film's graceful charm. In the end, The Band's Visit succeeds in conveying the message that seemingly trivial events can be quite meaningful and poignant.
