User's review

Yes, it was excellent, and grueling, too. 'Sally' plays a fascinating ethical foil to his fellow prisoners in the concentration camp as they struggle with the fact that their efforts are subsidizing the Third Reich. The film is well crafted, the plot believable, the Nazis alternating between grotesque violence and love of kinder, their prejudice vile. Not an easy film. Not a date flic, but one worthy of reflection and its Oscar. Directed by an Austrian whose grandparents were Nazi sympathizers.
