User's review

A fascinating, sustained meditation on mortality, the ephemeral nature of meaning in time, destiny and love. Oscar worthy. Such a gentle, evocative pace. I didn't want it to end, but its narrative line was completely fulfilled. Cate Blanchett mesmerizes. Brad Pitt demonstrates his acting chops with aplomb and grace. The backstory of Daisy's impending death in the midst of Hurricane Katrina punctuates the sepia-toned reminiscence. Many of us have a friend who comes in and out of our life, with each passage building a sense of fullness, of kismet. Take them to see this film and celebrate how your lives are intertwined; celebrate your themes and the lessons learned at each meeting.
