User's review

You would think that a film from the perspective of a man who is unable to move anything but one eye would be dull and slow moving, but The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is anything but. Interspersed with moments of surprising humour, it is poetic, horrifying and inspiring. Its original and ingenious camerawork lets you empathize with the main character, as you're forced to see the world through his eye(s) When the worst tragedy imaginable falls upon a very imperfect person, he redefines what it is to be human and challenges our understanding of the limits of human potential. His life becomes an act of transcendence. The film was so moving that when the final credits rolled, the entire audience did not move, but sat silently in reverent awe.
