User's review

Wes Anderson's unique vision is delightfully on display in The Darjeeling Limited, an exotic road movie about three brothers coming to terms with their traumatic childhoods and trying to heal their damaged psyches. In keeping with the Freudian theme, the film is rich in symbolism and has a dreamlike feel to it. It's also a lot of fun: whimsical, carefully stylized, with a dry humour running through it, including an elaborate and hilarious in-joke at the beginning. There are numerous unexpected plot turns along the way. Visually stunning, Darjeeling creates a hypnotic sensation with its bold, bright colours and romanticized portrayal of India. The precisely-selected soundtrack provides an illuminating reflection of the characters and the events that are taking place. The three leads do an excellent job at conveying the inner turmoil and unresolved issues of their characters.
