User's review

A grand slam for the Coen brothers, this movie is an awesome mix of suspense, huge performances with a nice small dash of laughs. There's definitely layers upon layers to this movie that go well beyond the simple fugitive being pursued story. It will take me repeated viewings to fully appreciate every detail this film offers. I believe it was the most tense film I've seen this year. The atmosphere was amazing. I wanted to almost stop watching a few times but couldn't. As amazing as the editing and great camera work were, I think it's the sound that really give this film its teeth. I've never been so scared from just the sound. It won't be everybody but it nearly will be. I think the only person I probably won't strongly recommend this to is my mother because of her uneasiness with violence. My 3rd or 4th favourite of 2007 so far (I can't decide) But it's fitting that a modern day western would bump 3:10 to Yuma off my top ten of the year.
10/10
