First, let me say that I'm not a Trekkie at all, I've never seen a single episode, but the movie was highly enjoyable. It was flashy, action-packed, entertaining, cooler than you may think, and even funny. The Russian guy and Scotty were hilarious, and Scotty's alien thing was adorable. The action was engaging, and I liked the Nero character. The special effects were also awesome, and I liked the soundtrack. But this was nowhere near a perfect movie. The romance parts were un-called for, and immediately you find Kirk to be an unlikeable character; he sexually harasses women, calles them [...], cheats on tests, is vain and over confident, and is just a jerk. And some scenes were completely useless, like the Sabotage scene. It was only there to try and make the movie look cool. Anyways, it was still a good flick, but I'm sure hardcore Trekkie can nitpick it to death. It's a mixed bag, but, go check it out. You'll want to see it in iMax.
