[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Guillermo del Toro is a genius. If not in scriptwriting, then in visuals, because his inventiveness is what this movie thrives on. In this sequel, Hellboy faces the not-so-good Prince Nuada, who wants revenge on the human race for "breaking" their side of a truce. Ron Perlman inhabits the role of Hellboy and is completely and utterly understanding of the character. Selma Blair is good with what she's given as Liz. Luke Goss evolves from Hollywood horror into a conflicted elf anarchist stupendously. Doug Jones wonderfully warm and understanding as Abe Sapien and infinitely inspiring as the vindictive Angel of Death, and Seth McFarlane is okay as German gas in a diving suit. However, the writing was pretty cliche, and doesn't bring the movie above Iron Man as the year's best.
