David Yates is the first director since Chris Columbus to direct two Potter films and he is doing the last one - which will separated into two features cause of the length - and its definitely the way to go. Yates took the best out of Alfonso Cuaron's third episode in the franchise and mix it with his own storytelling style. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince seems to serve as a bridge movie for the final act. There is less action than in previous films, despite a running time of two hours and a half. Doesnt mean its boring though, it might actually be one of the best in the franchise yet. The characters are very engaging, ts all about them growing up, evolving, learning to deal with the world, they are no kids anymore, they're becoming adults in their own rights. This sixth film is kind of built of subplots, all interesting ones, some lighter, but others darker. Still, we get a lot of humor, magic and intense moments. Lots of stuff happens and many things are revealed, which explains the lack of action, to give more importance to those events. Also I think, Half-Blood Prince might be the one film in the franchise filled with the most genuine emotions, which is a good thing. The ending gives an opening for the next chapter, which should be quite epic. I'm looking forward to that conclusion.
