This was Psycho meets Arachniphobia, Roswell, Outbreak, and last but not least Alien. It was the most sinister, horrific, doomsday movie of all time. However," The Mist" is far more than your average horror movie. This film clearly demonstrates that the deep recesses of a human brain can be much more frightening than any other evil. What I liked most of all is that it builds a wonderful sense of dread that doesn't let up. The character work is fantastic. Marcia Gay Harden is absolutely disturbing as Mrs. Carmody. In fact all the actors do a great job including Thomas Jane (who absolutely sells the ending) The other things that impressed me about this film were the direction, plot, special effects, good action sequences, etc. However, the ending will totally take you by surprise, but I know that not everyone will be pleased with it. Be prepared though, it is dark, very dark. Yet I really thought "The Mist" was a brilliant piece of work. This is a true masterpiece which will remain in your thoughts long after the curtain falls. A real must see.
