User's review

Another sociopath movie about a killer wrestling with a conscience. Much like Showtimes DEXTER series where the protagonist channels his evil for good, Mr. Brooks anguish comes from knowing he is doing a wrong while satisfying a personal need. This leads him into a compromising situation that drives the premise of the movie and we are left wondering if part of him wishes to be caught for his crimes. William Hurt is his alter ego ala schizophrenia companion much like Paul Bettany in A BEAUTIFUL MIND who offers up instinctual advice for our fiend. Standard film going fare, but still a nice departure for Costner from his usual film roles.
