User's review

Roman Polanski's little epic starts as a murder mystery or detective story, and transforms to an inquiry into evil in American history. This explains the mysterious title, "Chinatown." Private Investigator, Jake Gittes, courageously inquisitive, discovers that the tragic plight of the woman he loves is not only his own predicament, but true of just about everybody in the United States (even outside California) This is quite a monster movie based on the omnipotent fortune's child, Noah Cross, performed by the Renaissance skills of John Huston. I can never watch Polanski's fearful Revelation without an eerie chill.
