It was a good movie, I don't know what's wrong with the people giving bad reviews. The only thing I can think of is that they must have had overwhelming expectations. It's not Dark Knight, but it's still a good movie.

I liked this movie and was surprised by all the bad reviews. It is a simple grief-revenge-justice story. A powerful myth and fantasy and escape from the real world where things are complicated and often don't get sorted out very well. There is much in life we are powerless over and much of that will be painful. Movies like this are a brief escape. Who doesn't relate to wanting their pain heard, wanting someone to answer for something? It's called catharsis. I appreciate when these kinds of films take themselves seriously and aren't glib and humourous. What is humourous about pain and loss? Or the desperate desire for justice? Or being obsessed and broken? If I was looking for a complex psychological drama I would have picked up dostoevski. In the same manner I wasn't looking for a biting social commentary on greed and business. I was looking for a slick dark and brooding action movie. The film delivered on exactly what it promised it would be. It was well filmed, well choreographed. Considering it was simply a marketable spinoff from a videogame, I was pretty impressed. It won't be an oscar contender. Don't go to one movie looking for another and then whine that the big bad movie people stole your money.

If your a fan of the game then this movie is a must. Starts a little slow but gets better, tells a long story but I believe that cause there's going 2 be a sequel 8-)

According to Wikipedia, Mark Walberg said that this character "was the most complex character he has ever played." Mark must truly be a lunkhead, or the biggest liar on the face of the planet. I actually felt ill for having spent my money on this movie. Folks, RUN, don't walk, away from it, even if someone offers you free tickets. Markie, you should be ashamed of yourself for acting in such drivel. You must have really, really needed the money.

What the hell. What the hell. If you're reading this, seriously don't see this movie. Total waste of money. I couldn't even follow the plotline it was so boring. Like I was actually so bored I was counting the ceiling tiles. Ya. :(

I thought Mark Wallburg did a good job playing as Max Payne. The movie was dark and enjoyable to watch. The way the film was shot really helps get the audience to fully understand Max and what his life has been like before the movie's story begins. You can really feel for the character and almost feel like your living his pain! This is a pretty good game movie.

Great movie... I have not played the game nor knew anything about it but really enjoyed the movie. Do not leave the the theatre there is an extra scene after all the credits. Hopefully there is a sequel since that is what is implied.

Why? Why? Why? Max Payne... painful to watch. The best part of this movie was the popcorn with jalepenos I had. Sucked ass. I went with 4 friends and we all hated it. One even took a refreshing nap in the middle cuz she was bored to death! You want a good movie based on a game? Go watch Resident Evil instead.

The bad reviews are undeserved. The plot is very solid, but you need to piece it together from juxtaposed fragments (in basic English, you need to pay attention to figure it out) Besides, the movie is superbly shot, and it has a unique visual signature. The lighting in the movie is a materpiece.

It's a crying shame to see such a waste of resources. This crew had everything it took to make a decent film, everything except a script with a plot that actually strung together, and a director with some talent. The sheer ineptness of the plotting of this movie is rivaled recently only by Babylon A. D.

Ok. I am not sure where to start. I am a big Mark fan but could someone please tell him to find a different agent. Where do you start picking apart a movie that has no story, no climax, no end and does not go anywhere. If you go see this movie, please do yourself a favour and bring an mp3 player or anything to keep you from falling asleep.

I really liked the movie. Knowing nothing about the game I didn't know what to expect. The whole angels thing was really good reminded me of constantine! The characters where well done and everyone played their roles quite well!

Horrendous movie. I feel generous in giving it a 2, but the dark setting was well done. It was an attempt to be Sin City-like but they didn't want to do too much of that either, so it was a half-hearted effort to do something new and it just wasn't good. People left in the middle of it too. I strongly recommend for everyone to save your money!

I was excited to see Max Payne the movie I thought the movie would run with the game the whole way thru all in all it was a great movie the movie got me back 2 playing the game wonder if there will be a second movie titled the fall of Max Payne.

This was pretty good considering I had never played the video game before. I had really only heard the name 'Max Payne'. Had no idea what it was really about. Mark was great as Max Payne. But I love him so there is a lot that I think that he can't do wrong in. And I love that Amoury Nolasko (I don't know if I spelled his name right) was in this. I love watching him play Sucre on Prison Break every week. And to see him play a character that is the complete 180 from Sucre was great. He's awesome. I just wish he would have talked a whole lot more. I love his accent. Anyways, overall I did enjoy the movie. I liked that you couldn't tell if the 'angels' (so to speak) were real or hallucinations. It really could be either way if you ask me. The action was great too. I think this is worth seeing.
