This movie left me stunned and shocked. I've never cried this much in a movie - EVER! Truly a shocking film and great development and plot. I got a bit dizzy with the filming but it was the point, I think.

An evil Bill he acted! David Morse acted a police named Bill in this film. But he was so selfish that he robbed that blind woman of her money. In the end, he was killed by her, and that blind woman was hung. This result of this film was so shame and pity. It shaked me deeply. In a word, the performance of David Morse is better. But I like his another film named "Dould Vision", and the word "Thank you! " he said in Chinese is very funny. And he using chopsticks is funny as well. I really hope that he could understand Chinese culture deeply becaue of Chinese culture is very beautiful! He has a brighter future I predicate!

This is one of my favorite movies. It deeply moved me and though, I flirted with the idea that capital punishment might be a good thing, this movie reminded me again that it was not. The movie stays with you a long time and the acting and music is great. I don't normally give a 10 out of 10. But, this one deserves it.

"THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT" meets "CHICAGO". There is not a movie out there that has had such an affect on me as this one. Very very very powerful. Evtremely sad. The music is so haunting, as is Bjork's performance. An intence climax you will never forget. FIVE STARS!

Lars Von Trier is a experimental director of great skill, a leading light of the Danish Dogma group of primitivist mannerism. Bjork is a brilliant disciplined dramatic performer and musical artist as well as dancer. But in spite of professing compassionate feeling for the problems of working women, Dancer presents a shockingly brutal murder by Selma the leading character in a less than serious way, even ridiculing her dreams, which are symbolized in the light-hearted style of a Broadway musical, as an evasion of prosaic and "serious" worldly reality. This is painful because it depicts Romantic dreams as mental problems, an "aristocratic" attitude assumed by the Dogma filmmakers.

"Björk's new film is relatively dark, long, and extremely depressing. It fails as a musical and as a drama." Reviewer: Paul Stathakis PAUL'S EYE...

_Dancer_ is more accessible than other von Trier films -- but that's relative. It is also more emotionally arresting. Great, great, great.

Call me crazy, but I thought this was the best movie I had ever seen in recent memory. I thought it was wonderfully done, and I actually cried for a good 15 minutes after it was done. Bjork is heart-wrenching. See this movie.

Excellent movie! The musical scenes are stunning and the performances - Bjork, Deneuve, Morse - are remarkable. The story is very touching and singer Bjork surprises as an actress.

This is one of my favourite movies. It is amazing. Bjork is stunning as Selma. It's a shame that she never wants to act again. I enjoyed the filming of it as well... It creates the feeling that you are in the room right with them, and I don't believe that the film would have had the same effect if it was filmed in the traditional hollywood style. Go see this movie... Sit through it until the end... Don't give up on it, and you will not be disappointed.

Yeah it's manipulative as hell but the girl I saw it with couldn't stop crying for at least 15 minutes 'till after we were outside the theatre. This is one amazing movie. Hell I almost started bawling myself but then I remembered that boys don't cry. ------- Hi there. I was the girl that cried. But I was having a very bad day. And no, if I was the director, I would have had no need to drastically dramatize a woman's love and pain so radically. It was as if Bjork was punished twice, and for what? The protection of a lame wimpy policeman who could not try to overcome his oun fear. But okay. It was still an amazing, emotional, wrenching and raw film that literally brought me to tears.

I like Bjork, she's great in the movie. But that's about it. To make the transition from singer to actor is not easy and she pulled it off, but role could've been better.

This movie should have been kept in the dark and in storage. This movie was one of the worst I've ever seen. The whole story from beginning to end was stupid and the acting not up to standards.

This is a love or hate movie, and I for one loved it. The film was weak at the begining but made up for it by the end. Although it is not as powerful as Breaking the Waves, this is still a very good film. Bjork does a good job as Selma and the musical numbers are wonderful (even if some actors did not have the greatest singing voices).

This movie was one of the best movies I have ever seen! One should note that it is not light entertainment. The director definitely knows how to play with one's emotions - ie: the stamping machine - he had me cringing every time Bjork was near it! And the final scene while expected was a total shock to me and jolted me right out of my seat. Probably best seen as a matinee as I left the theatre with this movie on my mind for a long time!

One of the best films I've ever seen. Bjork is amazing as Selma and the soundtrack is pure Bjork. Even though the ending was a little hard to take, I beg you to go see it.

I don't understand all the'critics'blasting the camera movement, all I can remember about this picture was that it is simply one of the best films of the year, innovative mix of song/dance and heart-wrenching drama. A must see.
