As a stand alone movie without the hype of the book, it is definitely excellent, but it is hard to think that any movie would measure up to this one's expectations. But, all in all, a good movie that was true to the book and definitely great casting choices: Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou were good choices as was Ian Mackellen.
