I think all the original and probably more mature fans (parents!) will understand the bigger issues at stake for Scully and Mulder- younger audiences are just not seeing what is really important in their lives now. So if the bad press is putting you off ignore it and go and see for yourself. It's a good movie and I hope the third one gets produced to complete the whole story... aliens and all.
